Packers’ mock draft round 2 (62nd overall): Ifeatu Melifonwu, CB, Syracuse

Speaking of needs, cornerback is at the very top of the list. Kevin King failed to live up to expectations and Green Bay is rightfully moving on from him. And other than Jaire Alexander, the Packers don’t have any guys they can trust at cornerback. Don’t be surprised if they sign a player or two in free agency AND draft a player or two.

Green Bay gets right down to business in Round 2 by selecting Syracuse cornerback Ifeatu Melifonwu. At 6-foot-2 and 212 pounds, he has good size to play on the outside and handle some of the bigger wide receivers in the NFL. He also has good athleticism and a nice ability to make tackles in the run game. He has to work on reading plays and leveraging his coverage on the wide receiver, but this could be a home run hit for Green Bay in round 2.
