The Green Bay Packers seemingly have their top players in place for the 2021 season thanks to the great work by the front office to re-sign David Bakhtiari, Kenny Clark and now Aaron Jones over the past year. However, they still have a couple of key positions to add to and lots of depth to build in free agency.

Obviously, they don’t have the resources to address all their needs, but they can make headway by targeting the right players. They’re reportedly “active” in targeting cornerback and defensive line help in free agency and could end up doing some bargain hunting as well.

Green Bay still has work to do to create cap space to sign any new players which is a major barrier. Sure, they have a number of avenues to clear space in 2021, but that just means the bill will come due down the road. Will they sacrifice future flexibility to win now? Only time will tell, but first, here are their eight biggest needs at the onset of 2021 free agency.

Let’s take a look and rank the Green Bay Packers’ biggest needs as the NFL officially starts their 2021 free agency period.

1. Outside Cornerback

You’ll notice the top two positions on this list are at cornerback and that goes to show just how great of a need it is. Green Bay has a stud in Jaire Alexander who will lock down one outside spot, but they have no proven options behind him. Fortunately, there are a number of solid veterans the Packers should target in free agency that can quickly help bolster the other outside corner spot.

2. Slot Cornerback

Even if they sign someone for the outside, the Packers’ job won’t be done. They’ll need to add depth and someone who can play in the slot. We all saw the Tampa Bay Buccaneers pick on slot corner Chandon Sullivan in the NFC Championship game last year, and that was commonplace for Sullivan down the stretch. There are a number of guys who primarily play inside on the free agent market and Green Bay would be wise to give them a call.
