With the likely departures of Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams–the Green Bay Packers‘ top two running backs in 2019–the team will have to add some depth behind former second-round pick A.J. Dillon. And they could look to free agency to do so.

Dillon was impressive in his rookie campaign, albeit in a very limited role. Still, there are reasons to believe he could be the running back of the future beginning in 2021. However, Green Bay would be wise to add depth behind him and there are a number of running backs in free agency who compliment the youngster well and wouldn’t break the bank. Bargain running back to target in free agency: Rex Burkhead

Rex Burkhead has been stuck in Patriots’ purgatory for the last four years. Nobody knows how Bill Belicheck is going to use his running backs from a week to week basis and Burkhead was certainly in his wild rotation. Burkhead is a nice back who can catch passes and give Green Bay another weapon for Aaron Rodgers. He can also do a little running and should be able to be had for less than two million a year.
