Packers: 5 dream wide receivers to target in 2021 free agency
With the 2021 salary cap set at $182.5 million, the Green Bay Packers officially know the number they have to work with a week before free agency begins ($186.5 million thanks to their rollover salary from 2020). Although they were hoping for a little more room to work with, it’s nice to have a final target as they are preparing their free-agent plans.
The Packers suddenly have a fairly deep wide receiver room with Allen Lazard, Equanimous St. Brown, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and now Devin Funchess returning to play alongside star Davante Adams. However, none of them are proven second options and Green Bay could go hunting for a better player to take advantage of all the attention Adams is sure to receive.
General manager Brian Gutekunst recently said he believes they can acquire a high-priced free agent if the right guy is there. That would mean some more cap moves, but he seemed to believe it’s in the realm of possibilities. And if he believes, we believe. Therefore, here are 5 dream free agent targets at wide receivers for the Packers.
If the Green Bay Packers make room for a high-priced free agent, they could go after any of these stud wide receivers in free agency.
5. Marvin Jones
Marvin Jones is coming off the second-best season of his career where he caught 76 passes (a career-high) for 978 yards and nine touchdowns. He’ll be 31-years-old in a couple of days and looks like he still has enough left in the tank to contribute for a couple of years. He’d be a nice slot guy alongside some of the Packers’ bigger receivers and has some nice size of his own.
