At 19-13, the Milwaukee Bucks aren’t quite where they wanted to be in the win-loss column or the Eastern Conference standings at this point in the season. Their record has them sitting in third place in the East–behind the Philadelphia 76ers (21-11) and Brooklyn Nets (21-12)–with just four games remaining before the All-Star break.

Following a nasty five-game losing streak last week, the Bucks have rebounded with three straight victories to somewhat right the ship. However, this is clearly a top-heavy and flawed roster that has struggled mightily with Jrue Holiday sidelined for the past nine games.

Milwaukee would like to upgrade their roster, especially at key areas, and was recently rumored to be interested in Houston Rockets’ forward P.J. Tucker. The only issue is they have very little they can offer another team in return.

The Milwaukee Bucks would love to make a trade to improve their team, but they don’t have the necessary assets to entice another team to the table.

In order to acquire Holiday from the New Orleans Pelicans in the offseason, the Bucks shipped away Eric Bledsoe, George Hill, three future first-round draft picks, and two draft swaps. That’s left their cupboard extremely bare.

The only real tradeable assets on their roster are pretty unattractive to opposing teams. It includes D.J. Wilson (a fourth-year player who has basically been relegated to bench duty his entire career), Brook Lopez (an aging big man who can shoot threes but has clearly lost a step this year), Donte DiVincenzo (a third-year player with some potential to develop into a solid player), D.J. Augustin (a newly acquired aging and undersized point guard who is having one of the worst seasons of his career), and a handful of second-round picks. Not exactly anything to write home about.

This lack of assets will make it extremely difficult for the Bucks to make a move no matter how motivated they are. They’ve already gone all-in on the immediate future which has left them thin on tradeable players and picks.
