Bucks Film Room: Donte DiVincenzo finishing vs. Kings
In this rendition of Bucks Film Room, I take a look at Milwaukee Bucks’ wing Donte DiVincenzo and his finishing around the basket against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night.
DiVincenzo has struggled mightily in this category, as it’s been one of his biggest weaknesses. According to Cleaning the Glass, he’s only finishing 55 percent of his shots within four feet of the hoop–ranking in the 27th percentile among players at his position. It gets even worse when he’s the one creating the shot attempt for himself and driving to the hoop. Among 142 players to average at least four drives per game, DiVincenzo ranks 121st in field goal percentage.
It’s not all bad news for the young Buck, as he does a pretty nice job creating looks for his teammates and not turning the ball over. Among those same 142 players, he ranks seventh in assist percentage and 12th in turnover percentage.
Milwaukee Bucks’ wing Donte DiVincenzo did an exceptional job finishing around the basket, something he’s struggled with this season, against the Kings.
The good news continued against the Kings, as DiVincenzo showed off some unusual finishing around the hoop. He made six of his eight field goal attempts in that area (one of his misses was on a tip-in attempt so that doesn’t really apply to this category). Although he was fortunate some of them went in, it was nice to see more aggressiveness out of DiVincenzo. He made some very difficult shots while fighting through contact and even finished a wrong-footed layup (he jumped off his left foot and finished with his left hand).
Here’s a video breakdown about how he was able to finish around the hoop against the Kings as well as his season-long struggles at point-blank range. Feel free to comment below with your thoughts and what you’d like to see moving forward.
