Liam Eichenberg, OT, Notre Dame

The 6’6″ – 302 pound Eichenberg is another very experienced offensive tackle in this class, having taking over 2,600 career snaps at Notre Dame, and is a three-year starter as the left tackle.

Over the past two seasons, Eichenberg hasn’t allowed a sack in nearly 1,000 pass-blocking snaps and he’s allowed only 27 combined pressures. He also saw his penalty total drop from 10 in 2019 to only four in 2020. This past season, he was Pro Football Focus’ 11th highest graded tackle, and as impressive as his numbers are as a pass-blocker, Kyle Crabbs of The Draft Network points out that he’s “more impactful” when run-blocking.

Here is what else Crabbs had to say about Eichenberg:

"“Liam Eichenberg is an NFL-ready starting left tackle who should find assimilating to the pro game fairly easy. Eichenberg isn’t the most fleet of foot and speed rushers with wide angles can test him off the edge, but sound fundamentals and footwork should have him positioned to contest such challenges with a fair amount of success. The ceiling for Eichenberg as a prospect is tied to the offensive philosophies of his future coach. He is best when releasing vertically at the snap in the run game and either double-teaming to the second level or stepping down to collapse and create a soft edge. Gap/power teams will unleash his power at the point of attack effectively and he’ll do well to create creases as guards pull or tight ends insert to lead the ball carrier through his gap.”"

Eichenberg is one of the more well-rounded tackles in this class with his ability as a run-blocker and a pass-blocker. While projected as a left tackle, he would be the right tackle in Green Bay once David Bakhtiari returns and as Crabbs mentions, where Eichenberg ends up is going to depend on team preferences with him being “more impactful in the run game than he is in pass protection.”

This, of course, could be what sets Eichenberg apart from the rest in Green Bay, as having a strong run game is crucial to the overall success of the Matt LaFleur offense.
