Packers round 5 (174th overall): Shaka Toney, EDGE, Penn State

With two more selections in the fifth round, Green Bay adds to their front seven with edge-rusher Shaka Toney out of Penn State. Preston Smith is another cut candidate and is probably as good as gone at this point considering his play, the money the Packers need to save and Rashan Gary’s play. Toney projects as a pass-rush specialist and could be used to spell Gary and Za’Darius Smith next season.

Packers round 5 (178th overall): Tyree Gillespie, S, Missouri

Returning to the defensive backs (this is the defensive backs’ galore mock draft, after all), the Packers add their second safety of the draft with the selection of Tyree Gillespie. Gillespie’s primary attraction isn’t for his role on defense, instead, it’s for what he can do on special teams. He should be a primary special teams’ contributor right away which is something Green Bay desperately needs considering their abysmal performance in this area last year.
