It’s safe to say the Green Bay Packers have a lot of work to do this offseason. Even more than most fans realize. They enter the offseason nearly $28 million over the 2021 salary cap and will need to find a way to get even further underneath that number if they want to re-sign any of their own players or bring on outside free agents.

In other words, the bill will still come due–just not this season. Some are pushing for just that, as they want Green Bay to go all in and try to win a Super Bowl with Rodgers still playing well. With so many unknowns, here are five bold predictions about what’s to come for the Packers this offseason.

How will the Green Bay Packers take the next step? Here are five bold predictions about what lies ahead for them in the 2021 offseason.

Packers cut Preston Smith, Christian Kirksey, Devin Funchess, Rick Wagner, and Dean Lowry

This is just a starting point for Green Bay to begin to clear cap space. In most years, a number of these guys wouldn’t even be considered as cut candidates, but that’s the unfortunate reality in 2021. That’s a valuable chunk of money, but not the only move that’s required to get under the cap.
