Green Bay Packers: Matt Miller’s 7 Round 2021 NFL Mock Draft Hits Several Key Needs
By Paul Bretl
Round 2, Pick 62: Rondale Moore, WR, Purdue
Takeaway: Moore had a fantastic freshman season in 2018, totaling 1,258 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns, but due to an injury in 2019 and a shortened 2020 season, he has played in only seven games since. However, sign me up for this selection right now. Landing Moore in Round 2 would be a steal, and he would give the Packers a true slot receiver and a playmaker with the ball in his hands.
Round 3, Pick 93: Spencer Brown, OT, Northern Iowa
Takeaway: Once David Bakhtiari is healthy, he and Billy Turner will hold down the tackle positions. But with Rick Wagner’s future uncertain due to salary cap constraints, Green Bay needs to add more depth for this season while finding their right tackle of the future.
The Missouri Valley didn’t play football in the fall, so Brown had no snaps in 2020. But in 2019, he allowed only two sacks and 19 pressures in 446 pass-blocking snaps, according to Pro Football Focus ($). Brown has great length, standing at 6’8″, and he is a good athlete as well.
Round 4, Pick 126: Robert Rochell, CB, Central Arkansas
Takeaway: For me, cornerback is the biggest positional need that the Green Bay Packers have to address this offseason, so not landing one until Round 4 could be problematic. However, that’s the risk you run relying on the draft. As I wrote on Friday, if the Packers are able to spend money in free agency, it should absolutely be on the cornerback position.
Over the last two seasons, Rochell has been targeted 38 times, allowing 23 completions for a 60.5 percent completion rate and 13.6 yards per catch with a touchdown. He’s also added two interceptions, six pass breakups and has a passer rating of 75.8 when targeted. Rochell has excellent size for a corner, listed at 6’2″ – 195 pounds.
