Packers’ running back to target in free agency: Wayne Gallman

Wayne Gallman may not jump off the page at Packers’ fans, but he is a very solid choice as a backup running back or a no. 2 guy in the committee.

Gallman filled in very nicely for Saquan Barkley and proved to be a capable, if not exciting, back. He ran the rock 146 times for 682 yards (a solid 4.6 yards per carry average) and six touchdowns. That’s not exactly starting running back material, but it’s a nice guy to have on the team. He also flashed the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, a skill head coach Matt LaFleur likes in his backs. Gallman had 21 receptions in 2020 and a career-high 34 in his rookie campaign back in 2017.
