The Green Bay Packers are going to be forced to make a lot of tough decisions this offseason. Thanks to COVID-19 the salary cap is dropping significantly, putting a lot of teams in a bind and forcing them to release a lot of players they normally wouldn’t.

The Packers are no different, as they are about $28 million above the 2021 salary cap, meaning they have a lot of business moves to make in order to play by the NFL’s rules. There are some contract extensions and restructuring that can be done, but there are also a number of players who will have to be let go. Including these three starters.

These three starters for the Green Bay Packers are in grave danger of being released at some point in the 2021 offseason.

Rick Wagner

Rick Wagner was signed as an extra offensive tackle last season, but ended up starting nine games in 2020 (plus their two playoff games) and appearing in all 18 contests. He’ll also be needed to be a starter, at least for the beginning of next season while David Bakhtiari recovers from his torn ACL. If Green Bay releases Wagner, they’ll save $4.25 million–a nice chunk of money.
