Packers’ mock draft Round 2 (61st overall): Trevon Moehrig, S, TCU

It may seem weird to draft a safety this high considering how dominant the duo of Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage were, but these days teams basically start three safeties regardless.

Trevon Moehrig excells when he’s able to play in the middle of the field and man the passing lanes. He does a great job tracking the ball in the air and can cover a lot of ground as a result. Meanwhile, his biggest weakness comes when he’s charged with playing near the line of safety and helping to stop the run.

Both his strengths and weaknesses gel well with Amos and Savage. Both players excel when they can be moved all over the field, especially when they can be near the line of scrimmage. Moehrig’s addition would allow them to spend more time doing what they do best.
