The Green Bay Packers have a critical offseason ahead of them where general manager Brian Gutekunst will be charged with making some very tough decisions. Near the top of his list is deciding which free agents to keep and which ones to let go.

There are three categories of free agents–unrestricted, restricted and exclusive rights free agents. The unrestricted free agents are free to sign with any team they want and the Packers don’t have any extra leverage. Gutekunst will have to decide which restricted free agents he wants to “tender,” meaning the Packers would have the ability to match any offer they get. The third category, exclusive rights free agents, can’t negotiate new contracts if Green Bay offers them a league-minimum deal.

With 19 players falling in one of those three players, let’s rank them in terms of most importance to Green Bay winning a Super Bowl next year.

Let’s rank all of the Green Bay Packers’ pending free agents based on their importance to the team if they were to be re-signed.

19. Tim Boyle (Restricted)

With Aaron Rodgers able to stay healthy the last two years, and now a shiny new backup quarterback in Jordan Love in place, Tim Boyle isn’t needed on this roster. As a restricted free agent, Green Bay will have to decide whether to tender him. If they don’t, he’ll turn into an unrestricted free agent and be able to sign with any team he pleases.
