Green Bay Packers Round 2, Pick 61: Elijah Molden, CB, Washington

Takeaway: The Green Bay Packers certainly need to address the cornerback position early on. In fact, I’d say they need to address it multiple times in the draft or use free agency to bring in an inexpensive veteran along with still drafting someone early on.

However, should that early-round selection be for a slot cornerback?

In a larger sample size, Chandon Sullivan wasn’t nearly as effective this past season as he was in 2019, but the more pressing need for the Green Bay Packers is finding a running-mate for Jaire Alexander on the outside. With Kevin King unlikely to return, that leaves the Packers with Josh Jackson, Ka’dar Hollman, Stanford Samuels, and KeiVarae Russell as current options.

When it comes to Molden, he is certainly an impressive player. In addition to his coverage abilities, Molden is a willing tackler and has shown to be an effective blitzer when called upon. Over the last two seasons — with 2020 being shortened — Molden has totaled seven pressures, 48 stops, held opponents to 9.3 yards per catch, and recorded five interceptions with 12 pass breakups.
