The Green Bay Packers have yet another busy offseason ahead of them, as general manager Brian Gutekunst faces many critical decisions. Not only is he tasked with improving a team that has now made back-to-back NFC Championship games, but he must also contend with a dropping salary cap.

There are a lot of items on Gutekunst and the Packers’ to-do list, but they must start with their own free agents. Perhaps, decisions have already been made but they have a number of exclusive rights free agents (Allen Lazard, Yosh Nijman, Randy Ramsey and Malik Taylor), restricted free agents (Raven Greene, Robert Tonyan, Tyler Lancaster, Chandon Sullivan, Tim Boyle and Perry Nickerson), and unrestricted free agents (Aaron Jones, Kevin King, Jamaal Williams, Corey Linsley, Tyler Ervin, Lane Taylor, Damon Harrison, James Burgess, Billy Winn, Marcedes Lewis, Jared Veldheer and Tavon Austin).

For brevity’s sake, let’s take a look at the Packers’ top three unrestricted free agents and see where they stack up compared to the rest of the 2021 free agent class.

Here’s how the Green Bay Packers’ free agent class stack up with the rest of their peers heading into the 2021 offseason.

Top Packers’ free agent 3: Kevin King

Kevin King went out in the most brutal way possible, getting thoroughly embarrassed and exposed against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Championship game. No, I’m not still upset about it–why do you ask?

King never really developed as a lead cornerback as the Packers hoped, and his pre-draft red flags about injury concerns were a real-life wrecking ball. He has great size and good speed for his position, but hasn’t quite been able to put it all together. If it wasn’t for his final game in Green Bay, he might be higher. However, as of now, he’s probably in the 15-20 ranking among free-agent cornerbacks in this class.
