1. More pressure on the quarterback

Lastly, the Packers need to find a way to pressure the quarterback more often–whether that be through adding interior pass-rushers or edge rushers.

After a good season from a pass-rushing perspective in 2019, the Packers took a step backward in 2020. They only hurried quarterbacks 8.1 percent of the time (24th in the NFL), knocked them down 7.6 percent of their dropbacks (28th) and pressured them 21.5 percent of the time (27th). All those numbers indicate the 41 sacks they generated (10th) will be hard to repeat in 2021.

With the rise of Rashan Gary and the decrease in salary cap next season, it’s completely possible they release Preston Smith in the offseason. That will leave a massive playing time opportunity for somebody to fill. The Packers must ensure that whoever does so, is ready to get after the quarterback in 2021.
