Fan-favorite candidate for Packers’ defensive coordinator 1: Jim Leonhard

Hiring Jim Leonhard would be a bittersweet deal for those Packers’ fans who also double as Wisconsin Football fans. Leonhard, the current defensive coordinator for the Badgers, has been a huge asset to Paul Chryst’s staff and is both a tremendous coordinator and recruiter. He runs a pro-style defense in college and has been lauded by his peers.

Leonhard doesn’t want to leave Madison, but it’s worth exploring whether the Packers could entice him to stay in his home state, just move a few hours north. Leonhard has proven he can develop players at the college level and also call a great game. That’s exactly what the doctor ordered and this would be a home run hire for Green Bay.
