Fan-favorite candidate for Packers’ defensive coordinator 2: Kris Richard

Kris Richard might not have as big of a name as the other two guys on this list, but he’s a great candidate for the job. He was a defensive backs coach for the Seattle Seahawks from 2010-2014 and their defensive coordinator from 2015-2017. He famously led the elite secondary that had Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, and Kam Chancellor known as the Legion of Boom.

After leaving Seattle, he was the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys from 2018-19 until Mike McCarthy took over as the head coach and let Richard go. Now, he remains unemployed.

The Packers have three key pieces to their secondary which could allow Richard to come in and run things similar to his Legion of Boom days. He took the year off specifically because he wasn’t offered a position like this, so it may be the perfect opportunity for him to return.
