With the Green Bay Packers officially moving on from defensive coordinator Mike Pettine, head coach Matt LaFleur promises to conduct an extensive search to fill the position. After inheriting Pettine from the Mike McCarthy era, this will be the first time LaFleur will be hiring his own head guy on the defensive side of the ball.

There are a number of candidates that could fit the bill considering just how attractive this position will be. Green Bay has a lot of defensive talent including one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL in Jaire Alexander, a stud interior defensive lineman in Kenny Clark, dangerous pass rushers in Za’Darius Smith and Rashan Gary and a stellar safety duo in Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage. With that being said, let’s take a look at three candidates fans would love to have for the job.

These three coaching candidates are the top fan favorites for the open Green Bay Packers’ defensive coordinator position.

Fan-favorite candidate for Packers’ defensive coordinator 3: Wade Phillips

His presence on social media, especially his recent interactions with Packers’ fans, make him a loveable candidate for the job. Oh, and his tremendous success running defenses in the past doesn’t hurt either.
