Packers’ 2020 season review: Grading quarterbacks
While some fans are still mourning the extremely painful and sudden end to the Green Bay Packers‘ 2020 season, it’s time to reflect on what the past year brought us. In a series that begins today with the quarterbacks, we’ll be taking a look and grading every player at every position for Green Bay.
We start at quarterback, a straightforward position to evaluate considering the heavy-lifting Aaron Rodgers did all season long. However, we’ll also take a peek at the other two players who were on their roster all season long as well. So, without further ado, let’s grade the Packers’ quarterbacks from their 2020 season.
With the Green Bay Packers’ offseason officially underway, let’s take a moment to review their 2020 season and grade the quarterbacks.
Jordan Love (0 snaps)
The 26th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft didn’t see the field in his rookie campaign which means everything went according to plan for the Packers’ front office. Despite holding a clipboard all season long, there’s been no downward movement for Love’s future trajectory as far as we are aware. COVID-19 severely restricted the media’s ability to observe practices so it’s unclear how Love progressed as the season went along. The only thing for certain is that nothing is for certain when it comes to Love’s future.
Grade: Incomplete
Tim Boyle (22 snaps)
Although Tim Boyle played in 22 snaps this season, none of them came in any meaningful playing time. Another sign the season went great for the Packers. Of his 22 snaps, 13 of them were kneel-downs and he was sacked on his only passing attempt. Not exactly a stat line to write home about.
Grade: Incomplete
Aaron Rodgers (1163 snaps)
Here’s the guy we’ve all been waiting for. Aaron Rodgers dominated the regular season and posted a PFF grade of 95.1–not only the highest among all eligible quarterbacks in 2020, but also the highest of his storied career. He also threw for nearly 4300 yards and 48 touchdowns while completing 70.7 percent of his passes. Rodgers really took his game to the next level in Year 2 with head coach Matt LaFleur and returned to his MVP form. He was a huge reason the Packers’ offense excelled despite adding limited weapons in the offseason.
Grade: A+
