When the Green Bay Packers traveled to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers in Week 6, it was labeled as a potential playoff matchup between two of the NFC favorites. Unfortunately for Green Bay, the matchup failed to live up to the hype as they were boat raced 10-38.

After holding a 10-0 lead early in the second quarter, the Packers and Aaron Rodgers got the ball back and went to work, hoping to extend their lead even further. That’s when everything changed for both teams. The game went from being on the verge of a Packers’ blowout to a Buccaneers’ drubbing. Rodgers threw a pick that was housed on that possession and followed it by throwing yet another interception on the very next drive. Suddenly it was 14-10 Tampa Bay and they never looked back from there.

Rodgers finished by having his worst game of the season–the only real blemish on his likely MVP campaign. He was 16 for 35 for 160 yards with zero touchdowns and two interceptions. However, he was far from the only Packer to have their worst game of the season. The offensive line struggled, giving up four sacks in this game. Aaron Jones also only accrued 15 yards on 10 carries.

Although the Bucs were feeling themselves after that game and walk into Lambeau Field with all the confidence in the world, you can bet your bottom dollar Green Bay will be out for revenge.

Despite being the favorites in this game and playing at home, the Packers have an edge that’s not common when you get this far in the season. They know they were embarrassed by the Buccaneers in Week 6 and want to make things right. After all, this is the first NFC Championship game Rodgers has played at home and he’s not about to spoil it with another poor performance just one game away from the Super Bowl.

The Packers certainly have a healthy respect for this talented Bucs’ team. After all, they are led by the demi-god Tom Brady who is playing in his whopping 14th conference championship game. Tampa Bay also has more than enough weapons on both sides of the ball to leave Lambeau Field with a victory. However, the Packers have that little extra chip on their shoulder following the early-season drubbing. And as we’ve seen from Rodgers through the years, even the slightest of slights gives him extreme motivation to set the world on fire.
