Packers’ breakout candidate no. 3: Darnell Savage

For Packers’ fans, Darnell Savage has been on their radar since he was drafted in the first round two years ago. However, he may have fallen off for the casual fans since his performance has been anything but eye-popping. Fortunately, he is carrying some serious momentum with him into the playoffs.

Savage has been on a tear over the last six games and could be on the verge of becoming not just a breakout star in the playoffs, but in the NFL as a whole as well. Pettine has unlocked Savage and his athleticism, allowing him to fly around the field with a reckless abandon rarely seen from young players. Although he can be a bit too reckless at times, Savage’s improved game-speed has already resulted in big things for this defense.
