It has been a strange year, but the NBA is almost back. Here are some bold predictions for the Milwaukee Bucks starting five.

With the regular season about to begin, we know with certainty who four of the five Milwaukee Bucks starters will be; Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, and Brook Lopez will be in the starting rotation for the majority of the year, barring any injuries. The last spot, however, is still up for debate and could be a spot that changes throughout the year depending on who is playing well and who is not.

So for the purposes of this article, in which I am making bold predictions for each Milwaukee Bucks’ starter, I am going to use Donte DiVincenzo as the final starter. I am not projecting that is who will be the final starter, but he did start two of the three preseason games.

Jrue Holiday

I want to start with Jrue Holiday because he was brought in to be a very important piece in a potential championship run. However, we have not seen him in this offense a lot up to this point with the shortened preseason this year. Holiday was traded for by Jon Horst to upgrade the starting point guard position, and based on rankings from a recent article by Bleacher Report; Horst did a great job upgrading that spot. Eric Bledsoe was ranked 98th, while Holiday was ranked 29th. These are just predictions, but it is evident that the Bucks appeared to get better by acquiring Holiday.

We know that Holiday is one of the best guards on the defensive end of the court, so having a bold prediction on the defensive side of the ball would be pretty hard. While Defensive Player of the Year could be a bold prediction, this seems unlikely as the last point guard to win the NBA Defensive Player of the Year honor was Gary Payton back in the 1995-1996 season. Kawhi Leonard and Ron Artest were the only non-power forwards or centers to win the award since Payton won it.

So with that said, I want to look at the offensive side of the ball for my bold prediction. I think that Middleton and Antetokounmpo will still get their opportunities and will be two of the Bucks’ main options on offense. Holiday is going to be a big part of the offense as well, and having Middleton and Antetokounmpo on his side will help with his overall efficiency. As a result, I think that this will be Holiday’s most efficient year of his career.

Prediction: Jrue Holiday will shoot 50 percent from the field, 40 percent from three, and 90 percent from the free-throw line to become the ninth player in NBA history to join the 50-40-90 club.
