3. D.J. Augustin

D.J. Augustin is the Bucks’ biggest free-agent signing this year. He will definitely spark their pick-and-roll game, as he’s become proficient in navigating the defense off a ball screen and creating shots for both himself and others. He’s also a good floor-spacer and will ensure his guy can’t drift too far away when he’s spotting up behind the arc.

However, a lineup that consists of D.J. Augustin and Jrue Holiday in the backcourt would be an unorthodox move and one that is more likely to be a closing unit instead of a starting one. If Budenholzer chooses to go this route, he’d be starting his only point guards and leaving himself with none on the bench. That would force him to remove either Augustin or Holiday early in the quarter so he can sub one of them back in to run the offense.

Augustin is best left for the second-unit where he can run their offense, and not have to worry as much about hiding on defense.
