Green Bay Packers at Lions: 3 Bold Predictions for Week 14
By Paul Bretl
Jones and Williams combine for 200 rushing yards and a touchdown
It’s not only through the air that this Lion defense struggles, but on the ground as well. And actually, you could make the argument that they are worse in this area.
The Lions are giving up nearly 134 rushing yards per game this season, which is the fifth-most in the NFL. And they’ve been particularly bad at stopping the run between the tackles.
Meanwhile, behind what ESPN calls the best run-blocking offensive line in the NFL according to their run-blocking win rate metric, the Green Bay Packers’ running backs are averaging 4.7 yards per carry between the tackles this season. Once again, much like with Davante Adams, another recipe for a big day for the Packer running backs.
Similar to what we saw against Chicago two weeks ago, I expect a heavy dose of Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams in this game; one, because they’ll find success, but two, to also help control the clock and keep the ball away from Matthew Stafford. That means over 200 rushing yards between the Jones and Williams duo, which is something they’ve already done back in Week 2 when the Lions came to Lambeau.
