2. Packers’ early draft picks

This may not be entirely fair to the Packers’ Day 1 and Day 2 picks (Jordan Love, A.J. Dillon and Josiah Deguara), but it’s not difficult to imagine a season where Green Bay gets some or any contributions from just one of their top three selections.

Love has been buried on the depth chart all season and wasn’t even able to beat out Tim Boyle for the number two quarterback job. Not that it matters much, as he’d still be behind a healthy Rodgers. Dillon has been on the covid list for over a month now and there’s no saying when he’ll return. Even when he was healthy, he didn’t see much playing time behind Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams. Deguara was projected to see the field the most as a versatile H-back/tight end/offensive weapon. However, his season ended early due to an injury and we’ll see if he’s ready for the start of 2021.

Time will tell whether they were the right picks or not, and now is not the time to evaluate that. However, if the Packers fall short of their ultimate goal (the only measuring stick that truly matters) the selection of their top picks will weigh heavy on the front office’s shoulders.
