Green Bay Packers: 5 most disappointing players at quarter pole
4. Christian Kirksey
Sticking on the defensive side of the ball, Christian Kirksey hasn’t exactly been what the Packers hoped when they signed him in free agency. Although he did miss some time with injuries, he’s managed to play in seven of the team’s 12 games–a step forward from the two he played in last year.
However, he’s been unimpressive when he’s been on the field. Kirksey doesn’t have the athleticism his reputation suggested, as we’ve seen him outrun by quarterbacks, tight ends and running backs alike. He’s also in the middle of his worst professional career according to PFF–his 40.0 grade ranks 77th out of 85 eligible inside linebackers and is a career-low.
He’s struggled in all facets. He’s always a bit slow in coverage and has allowed 29 of his 33 targets to be completed while also giving up four touchdown receptions. He’s also missed seven tackles while only recording 40. It’s safe to say this experiment is probably over with after this season.
