Kevin King vs. Alshon Jeffery

It’s the matchup of two big-bodied perimeter players this week, with King taking on Alshon Jeffery. They are both 6’3″, with Jeffery taking the slight advantage in weight 218 to 200. Jeffery hasn’t been a big factor for the Eagles this season after playing his first game back from injury in week ten. However, he did make his first two catches of the season last week, so he could be a factor as a veteran receiver for Wentz in a receiver corps that is extremely young.

While Jaire Alexander is locking up Travis Fulgham on the other side of the field, King will have the bigger and more physical Jeffery. While he’s been out for most of this season, Jeffery is still someone to be noted due to his six seasons of at least 750 yards and two seasons over 1000.

Kevin King has had another Kevin King season, not being able to stay healthy but playing well as the number two corner when he’s playing. In the final year of his rookie contract, King is running out of time to make his case that he should get paid. He missed six games in the middle of the year and has just three passes defended and no interceptions to show for his time on the field. Expect him to be extra aggressive to try to make something happen this week, especially if the Packers get a lead early and Wentz has to force more passes.

Green Bay drafted King exactly for these kinds of matchups. They saw his big stature and physical traits that the Ted Thompson regime loved and are still prominent today with Gutekunst at the helm. Keeping Jeffery down and making a big play would go a long way in King’s campaign for a new contract.
