The Green Bay Packers have two more opportunities to get former players into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame inducted its first class in 1963. Back in 1963, the Green Bay Packers had 4 members get into the Hall of Fame; Earl‘ Curly’ Lambeau, who is a very unique case since he is in the Hall of Fame as a founder, general manager, coach, and player for the Packers. The other three Packer members that were inducted that year were Cal Hubbard, Don Hutson, and Johnny ‘Blood’ McNally.

In total, the Green Bay Packers have 32 members in the Hall of Fame at this time; the most recent inductees have been Bobby Dillon (2020), Jerry Kramer (2018), and Brett Favre (2016).

On November 24th of this year, the Hall of Fame announced the semi-finalists for the class of 2021. There are 25 players that were announced as semi-finalists, two of which played for the Green Bay Packers.

LeRoy Butler has been a semi-finalist for the  Hall of Fame for 4 years straight, with 2020 being the first year he was a finalist for the Hall of Fame. To put it simply, Butler should be in the Hall of Fame already, and hopefully, 2021 is the year that he is forever enshrined in Canton.

In his first year of eligibility, former Packers’ CB/S Charles Woodson was also selected as a semifinalist for the Hall of Fame. Woodson played at Michigan while in college, where he won the Heisman trophy in 1997. Woodson was then selected fourth overall in the 1998 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders.

In 2006 Woodson signed with the Packers and played in Green Bay for seven years. During that time, Woodson was a key member of this team. He would go on to win the Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2009 and was an important part of the run to Super Bowl XLV.

As I mentioned earlier, 25 total players are semifinalists for the Hall of Fame, including some players who have been rivals of the Packers. Calvin Johnson and Jared Allen both played in the NFC North, and each are semifinalists in their first year of eligibility for the Hall of Fame. Other notable players include Peyton Manning, Clay Matthews Jr, Hines Ward, Marvin Harrison, Patrick Willis, and many, many more.
