1. A step closer to convincing Giannis to sign supermax

Giving up three first round draft picks as well as two draft swaps is a lot for somebody who isn’t a surefire superstar in the NBA. However, like the Los Angeles Clippers trade for Paul George last offseason, this deal isn’t only about the player they’re bringing in.

Using future first to acquire Holiday is hopefully a sign the Bucks have a verbal commitment from Giannis Antetokounmpo to sign the supermax deal he’s eligible for on November 22nd. Even if he doesn’t sign right away, it’s impossible to say the Bucks aren’t doing everything they can to win a championship and that’s all Antetokounmpo has asked for. This deal puts the Bucks one step closer to convincing Giannis to re-sign, meaning the Bucks are the ultimate winner.
