The Milwaukee Bucks surprisingly completed a blockbuster trade for Jrue Holiday and walked away from the deal as big winners.

The Milwaukee Bucks shocked the NBA world on Monday night when they agreed to trade for New Orleans Pelicans’ combo guard Jrue Holiday in exchange for Eric Bledsoe, George Hill, three future first round draft picks and two future draft swaps.

That may seem like a lot to give up (because it is), but the Bucks are the big winners in this deal. At least immediate winners. Let’s take a look at four reasons why that is.

4. Got third-best player available

Out of everyone available via either free agency or rumored trade this offseason, the Bucks acquired one of the very best. The other two players who are available that I’d put ahead of Holiday are Chris Paul (who was traded to the Phoenix Suns) and James Harden (who is reportedly wanting out of Houston). That type of difference-maker doesn’t come around very often and Milwaukee was smart to jump all over him.
