Secondary

Maybe I’m being too hard on the secondary here, but they’ve been a disappointment as a collective. Yes, Jaire Alexander has been great and could be the best cornerback in the NFL right now. He’s a high-point, for sure.

However, outside of him, it’s a bunch of question marks in the secondary. Adrian Amos has been solid and that’s likely the type of player he is. He won’t make spectacular plays and will just hold his own, instead. That would be okay if they had other playmakers back there, but Darnell Savage has taken a huge step back in Year 2. Savage has all the physical tools to succeed in the NFL, but hasn’t been able to put it together yet.

With Kevin King missing time, Josh Jackson hasn’t shown he’s capable of handling a full-time role. Other depth players such as Chandon Sullivan, Raven Greene and Will Redmond have also had their fair share of struggles.

Quarter-mark grade: B-

Halfway mark grade: C+
