Green Bay Packers: 3 Unsung Heroes at the Halfway Point

Green Bay Packers OT: Billy Turner
That’s right, more appreciation for the offensive line. They absolutely deserve it. Admittedly, I was one of the many out there who questioned Billy Turner’s ability at the tackle position. Not only has he proved me wrong with his play at right tackle, but he’s filled in very well at left tackle during David Bakhtiari’s absence as well.
In six games this season, Turner has taken 174 snaps at left tackle, 217 at right tackle, with 238 total pass-blocking attempts and has allowed only two sacks and 13 total pressures. On top of that, by ESPN’s pass-block win rate metric, which measures how often an offensive lineman can hold his block for at least 2.5 seconds, Turner ranks second among all tackles.
Turner hasn’t been flawless by any means, but his high-level of play, coupled with his ability to seamlessly transition from right tackle to left tackle and then back to right tackle, has been invaluable. He has provided the Green Bay Packers stability at one of the most important positions in the game.
