Scenario 3: A Blockbuster Trade

The Milwaukee  Bucks have been involved in more than their fair share of trade rumors, mainly circulating around acquiring a new point guard. They could very realistically move many assets in an effort to trade for their missing piece. If they are to make a trade, almost any large trade would involve each of the following; Eric Bledsoe, Donte DiVincenzo, and the 24th overall pick in the draft.

Depending on the salaries, they obviously could be letting go of more, but at the very core, those three pieces will all be involved. So let’s dive into some blockbuster trades Jon Horst might pull the trigger on.

Milwaukee Bucks Trade Targets

Trade 1: Jrue Holiday to Milwaukee

The idea of getting Jrue Holiday to be the point guard for the Bucks certainly is an intriguing one. Holiday is a phenomenal defender, maybe not as good as Bledsoe, but offensively he is much more effective. The 30-year-old Holiday seems to be a much better fit offensively for the Bucks as well, with his ability as a shooter. Adding a third reliable scorer to play with Giannis and Middleton makes the team much harder to stop in the playoffs. Additionally, he is a great facilitator and an above-average rebounder for the point guard position. If the price is right, Horst should trade for Jrue Holiday.

Trade Idea:

Milwaukee receives: Jrue Holiday, Josh Hart, 2022 2nd round pick

New Orleans receives: Eric Bledsoe, Donte DiVincenzo, Ersan Ilyasova, Robin Lopez, 24th overall pick in 2020 draft

Trade 2: Victor Oladipo Joins the Bucks

Victor Oladipo, the high flying combo guard from the Pacers, reportedly wants out of Indiana, and the Bucks could pursue him hard. The idea of Oladipo alone is great; the idea of him playing alongside Giannis and Middleton is even better. This move would give the Bucks three high-level scorers who could take over the game at any point. Simply put, the move makes sense; for more detail on Victor Oladipo, check on Kenny Jilek’s article here.

Oladipo does bring some baggage with him, however. One being his injury history, and another being the fact he is not a point guard. Realistically speaking, the Bucks would be offering Eric Bledsoe as one of the key pieces in their offer. Oladipo returned last season from a gruesome leg injury that sidelined him for a full year. With how effective modern medicine is, I do not think this should deter the Bucks.

Trade Idea:

Milwaukee Receives: Victor Oladipo, Aaron Holiday

Indiana Receives: Eric Bledsoe, Donte DiVincenzo, D.J. Wilson, Ersan Ilyasova, 24th pick in 2020 NBA draft

These are just a couple of options for a blockbuster trade that the Bucks could make to better their chances at a title. Some other names to be conscious of are Buddy Hield, Bradley Beal, and of course, Chris Paul.

The pressure is on Jon Horst to put a championship roster around Giannis. The decisions they make this offseason could sway whether he signs his super-max extension or not. So stay tuned!
