The Green Bay Packers should target any (or all) of these three positions to upgrade at the NFL’s trade deadline on Tuesday.

The Green Bay Packers desperately need to make a move by Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline. They’ve been reportedly connected with a few players, including Houston Texans’ wide receiver Will Fuller, but haven’t quite pulled the trigger on any deals.

Whether that changes remains to be seen, but the fact they need to upgrade their roster is obvious to all who have watched them play over the last few weeks. Like any team, the Packers have flaws that can be exploited, however, they seem to have one too many and should try to shore up at least one of those weaknesses over the second half of the season.

Without further ado, here are three positions they could upgrade at the trade deadline.

3. Inside linebacker/safety hybrid

The Packers have been searching for an inside linebacker/safety hybrid for a number of years now. They used a third-round pick on Oren Burks with the hope he could be the type of athletic player who is physical enough to play at the line of scrimmage, yet athletic enough to stick with running backs and tight ends in coverage. Unfortunately, they haven’t been successful in finding that type of player yet. Will Redmond, Raven Greene and Vernon Scott have been exposed at the safety position and it’s vital the Packers find someone who can hold their own.

2. Wide receiver

Other than Davante Adams, the Packers’ wide receiver position is woefully inadequate. Especially with Allen Lazard on the shelf. Marquez Valdes-Scantling has disappeared over the last month and there isn’t anybody else who can contribute on a regular basis. Acquiring Fuller would be a home run hit, but there are other options out there (John Ross) who wouldn’t cost nearly as much as still provide Green Bay with some better receivers than they currently have.

1. Defensive line

Before Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, wide receiver was likely seen as the biggest position of need. However, the defensive line has clearly jumped to the top of the line considering Green Bay’s struggles to stop the run for two years in a row now. Kenny Clark desperately needs some help, as the line constantly gets blown off the point of attack. It’s unclear exactly who is available out there, but there could be some good options.
