3. Defensive playmaker

Gone are the days when the Packers’ defense was littered with players like Charles Woodson, Tramon Williams, Nick Collins or Clay Matthews. All four players were staples of Green Bay’s defense and could turn the game on a whim with a sack, forced fumble or interception.

As good as Jaire Alexander has been this season, and he’s been damn good, teams seem to avoid him in the passing game. And when they do target him, he’s great at ensuring the pass is incomplete, but he’s unable to make a play. on the ball for himself. To be fair, it’s not just Alexander–the rest of the Packers’ defense struggles to make game-changing plays as well. A year after ranking seventh in the NFL by forcing 25 turnovers, their defense has only forced four turnovers in six games so far and ranks 29th.

With the deadline looming, the Packers should target a ballhawk or someone who can help make game-altering plays on the defensive side of the ball. They have enough talent to hold down the fort elsewhere, now they need to get back to making game-winning plays.
