The Green Bay Packers’ wide receivers have surprised a lot of analysts with their production through the first four games of the 2020 season.

It’s been a tumultuous year for the Green Bay Packers‘ wide receivers. Entering the season, many analysts thought the position would be one of weakness for the team after they failed to address it in the offseason. However, they came on strong with Davante Adams continuing his elite ways and Allen Lazard emerging as a legit threat. Then both got hurt and Green Bay was forced to change plans.

While the Packers hope to get Adams back after the bye, it will be a while until Lazard returns. In the meantime, let’s take a moment to grade the receivers after previously evaluating the quarterbacks, running backs and offensive line.

Davante Adams: In his only full game of the season, Adams caught 14 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns. Unfortunately, he got hurt the following week and hasn’t been back on the field since. Green Bay will need him following the bye and he should be full go considering their conservative approach to his recovery.

Grade: A

Allen Lazard: Lazard carried his momentum over from the end of 2019 to the beginning of 2020. In Week 3–the last game he’s played this season after a core injury–he had a career day with six receptions for 146 yards and one touchdown. It will be exciting to see what both he and Adams can do when they’re on the field together later this season.

Grade: A

Marquez Valdes-Scantling: It’s been a roller coaster of a season for Valdes-Scantling so far. He’s done a nice job of creating separation from defenders thanks to his 6-foot-4 height and amazing speed. However, his hands leave a lot to be desired. He’s been credited with three drops according to PFF and all three have come in huge situations. He’s also not as crisp in his route-running as he should be.

Grade: C

dark. Next. Is Davante Adams injury prone?

Outside of their top three wide receivers, the Packers have opted to run with players from other positional groups. Malik Taylor (65 snaps), Darrius Shepherd (59 snaps) and Reggie Begelton (two snaps) are the only other receivers to play for the team this year, and they haven’t received enough playing time to hand out grades.
