1. Harrison was elite

The biggest reason they need to sign Harrison is we’re talking about an elite defensive lineman. From 2013 to 2018, he posted a PFF grade of 90.0 or higher in five of those six seasons. He was routinely an elite run-stopping defender during his time with the New York Jets as well, never accruing a grade lower than 87 during that time while earning a 92 or higher four times.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention his down 2019 campaign with the Lions, but that happens to everyone in Detroit. It’s worth seeing if he can revert back to his play from the previous six seasons.

If he can, that’s exactly what the doctor ordered for the Packers, as they don’t have someone outside of Kenny Clark who can win one-on-one battles on a routine basis. As it stands, defensive coordinator Mike Pettine likes to play with just two linemen when playing in his nickel set and one when playing in dime. Adding Harrison to the roster would give them a much-improved front in both of those sets.
