Packers’ studs and duds from Week 4 victory over Falcons
Dud: Red zone offense inside the two-yard-line
Perhaps, the only issue we can take with the Packers’ offense through the first four weeks is their red zone struggles. It’s something that carried over from 2019 and it appears they still haven’t quite figured it out.
The Packers have been stopped at the one-yard-line a few times this season, including again against the Falcons. On their second possession and with a 7-0 lead, Green Bay drove the length of the field when Aaron Rodgers found Darrius Shepherd just short of the goal line on third down. This set up a fourth and goal situation from the one where Jamaal Williams was eventually stuffed, giving the ball back to Atlanta.
In a situation where the Packers could’ve gone up 14-0 early, they turned the ball over without putting any points on the board. Atlanta followed by driving the length of the field on a 20-play drive that took nearly 11 minutes off the clock and put up a field goal to make it 7-3. A huge turn of events. The Packers have now scored nine touchdowns on their 13 red zone trips, good enough for 13th in the league, but there’s still room for improvement.
