5 wide receivers Packers should target with Allen Lazard out indefinitely

4. John Ross

If general manager Brian Gutekunst wants to get a little funky, he could pursue a trade at the position, and Cincinnati Bengals’ wide receiver John Ross would be a prime target.

Ross, a first-round pick in 2017, has flashed the speed that made him so enticing just a few years ago. He put up 506 receiving yards on 28 receptions last year, averaging a whopping 18.1 yards per reception. He’s had a slow start this year and was even inactive in last week’s game.

He’s also in the last year of his deal and it’s unlikely the rebuilding Bengals will try to retain his services in free agency. If they want to recoup some value, the Packers could offer a Day 3 pick in 2021 to bring Ross to Green Bay. The Packers are expected to receive three compensatory picks so they have plenty of ammunition later in the draft.
