The Green Bay Packers dropped more than 40 points for the second consecutive game this season, as they took down the Detroit Lions in Week 2.

Let’s check out the highlights of the Green Bay Packers Week 2 victory over the Detroit Lions.

The Packers have now given up opening-drive touchdowns in each of their first two games, as the Lions moved down the field far too easily on their first possession. Mistakes were huge for Green Bay, as they missed a tackle on T.J. Hockenson’s big catch and Z’Darius Smith was flagged for a 15-yard-penalty later in the drive when he grabbed the helmet opening of the ball carrier. D’Andre Swift ran five times for 20 yards and the touchdown to cap the drive. Lions 7 Packers 0

The Packers also got points on their first drive, although it was in the form of a Mason Crosby field goal. Drops continued to be an issue for the team, as both tight ends Jace Sternberger and Robert Tonyan dropped catchable balls that would’ve gone for a lot of yards. Lions 7 Packers 3

The defense continued to embarrass themselves on their next drive, as Detroit methodically drove down the field once more and put the ball in the endzone on a Marvin Jones touchdown reception. That marks five straight drives their defense has given up a touchdown. Lions 14 Packers 3

Needing a touchdown in the worst way, the offense responded by putting seven more points on the board. Aaron Rodgers found Davante Adams for the first time on the drive and eventually found Aaron Jones out of the backfield for a touchdown. Lions 14 Packers 10

It finally happened! The Packers’ defense came up with a stop on their next possession to give their offense the ball back inside their 10-yard-line. Green Bay drove into Lions’ territory before stalling and punting, pinning Detroit inside their 10-yard-line. Detroit went three-and-out with Green Bay almost securing their second safety in as many games and gave it right back to the good guys.

They didn’t wast this opportunity. After a couple of personal fouls by a Lions’ defensive back, Rodgers found his man in Robert Tonyan for an 11-yard touchdown reception and a Packers’ lead heading into the half. Packers 17 Lions 14

Green Bay received the kick to begin the second half and it didn’t take them long to add more points to the scoreboard. On their first play, Aaron Jones took a handoff up the middle of the field and went 75 yards for a touchdown. Packers 24 Lions 14

After the defense stepped up and forced a three-and-out, their offense went back to work. They moved the ball down the field with ease, as Jones showed off his receiving chops. Unfortunately, after they got into the red zone, a holding penalty and a sack knocked them out of field goal range and they were forced to punt.

Following a Lions’ penalty on the punt, they began the series at their own six-yard-line. This time, the defense wanted in on the scoring action, as Chandon Sullivan picked off a Matthew Stafford throw and stumbled, bumbled and rolled his way into the end zone for a touchdown! Packers 31 Lions 14

Following a Crosby field goal on Green Bay’s next possession, they led 34-14. However, their defense continued their trend of giving up garbage-time touchdowns through the air as the Stafford found Marvin Hall behind the defense. Packers 34 Lions 21

With Adams sitting out because of a hamstring injury, the Packers were forced to play without him. No problem. They responded as they have all season and Jones found the endzone once again, this time on the ground. Packers 42 Lions 21.
