3 reasons why Packers will beat Vikings in Week 1
1. Vulnerable Vikings’ Cornerbacks
Although the Vikings sport the best safety duo in the league in Anthony Harris and Harrison Smith, their cornerbacks are largely inexperienced and unproven at the NFL level. That gives the Packers a huge edge in the passing game, most notably between Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams.
Rodgers and Adams have been doing this for a long time now and Adams is on the verge of establishing himself as a top 3-5 wide receiver in the game. With Minnesota’s starting cornerbacks projected to be Mike Hughes, Holton Hill and Jeff Gladney, there will be plenty of opportunities for Adams and company to work into a rhythm early.
The Vikings will also likely send a lot of attention Adams’ way which will make life easier for Allen Lazard and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. All the two of them have to do is beat their man one-on-one, something that shouldn’t be too challenging considering the unproven nature of their competition. Rodgers has been playing with a chip on his shoulder throughout all of training camp and this will be a great opportunity for him to start the season on a high note.
