Will right tackle be a major liability for the Green Bay Packers?

As many are focused on the receiver position, this is my biggest concern entering the new season.

Rick Wagner was the presumed starting right tackle for much of the offseason, but LaFleur made it quite clear that it was an open competition. And it’s a competition that Wagner certainly didn’t seize control of.

Injuries have plagued Wagner’s career, as he’s only played in all 16 games just one time since 2014, and in 2019 when he was on the field, to put it simply, he struggled. We all know that he is a downgrade from Bryan Bulaga, but the question is, how much?

Other options at tackle include Billy Turner, but he is better suited at guard rather than working out in space. Lane Taylor played left tackle for a few weeks in 2017, but that was only for a few weeks, and that took place almost three years ago.

The only other true tackle on the current 53-man roster is Yosh Nijman, who has the size and athleticism that you love at the tackle position, but he has no regular-season NFL experience.

Tackle is a premier position in the NFL, and the Packers have a quarterback that likes to hang on to the football, but from the outside looking in, this position looks like it could be a major liability this season.
