1. Shaquem Griffin, OLB

It’s not as if the Packers need an outside linebacker, considering their top three are Za’Darius Smith, Preston Smith and Rashan Gary. However, they should always take the opportunity to improve a strength, and that’s exactly what Shaquem Griffin would do for them.

Griffin was let go by the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday after playing in all 16 games in each of his first two seasons. He’s not exactly a pass-rushing fiend, failing to record a sack in the regular season so far, but he is a solid all-around player with good athleticism. Defensive coordinator Mike Pettine could have a field day moving him all around the field and lining up in various sub-packages.

It’s probably unlikely Gutekunst targets Griffin considering he appears to like the two other outside linebackers he kept in Randy Ramsey and Jonathan Garvin, there’s no way they’d keep six outside linebackers. However, Griffin is more proven than Ramsey and Garvin and would offer the Packers more positional flexibility–an attractive skill to be sure.
