Four players Green Bay Packers could consider claiming off waivers

4. Hakeem Butler, WR

It’s not uncommon for undrafted rookies to be let go at this stage, especially considering their respective teams will likely be able to slide them onto the practice squad without any other teams having film on them. However, it raises eyebrows when a high draft pick is let go before any games are played.

That’s the case with Hakeem Butler who was selected in the fourth round of the 2019 draft without having played a single game for the Arizona Cardinals. Butler missed last season due to injury, but if he’s healthy this year general manager Brian Gutekunst should seek him out.

To be sure, Gutekunst loves his big-bodied wide receivers and that’s exactly what Butler is. At 6-foot-5, he’s a huge target for his quarterback and showed some promise at Iowa State. Although his skill set is redundant for the Packers, there’s no mistake this team loves targeting big, tall receivers.
