Inside Linebacker

Roster Locks: Christian Kirksey, Kamal Martin

Perhaps, the biggest weakness on the team, the Packers have a whole slew of players at inside linebacker. And they must figure out who stays and who goes.

Christian Kirksey was brought in to be the starter and nothing has changed here. He’s been as advertised throughout training camp and, most importantly, he’s stayed healthy. There shouldn’t be anything other than health that prevents him from getting the majority of snaps at inside linebacker in 2020.

Kamal Martin, a fifth-round pick in this year’s draft, earned his lock status thanks to his athletic and steady play in training camp. He was likely the lead candidate for the no. 2 job before he sustained a knee injury that will cost him 6-8 weeks. He’ll likely begin the year on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list–not exactly how he envisioned the start to his NFL career.
