With the Green Bay Packers’ final roster being close to finalized, let’s take a look at a number of players they can let go.

The Green Bay Packers, and the rest of the NFL, must make a decision about their final roster by Saturday, September 5th, meaning there are about to be a lot of changes to Green Bay’s roster. Given the lack of preseason games this year, there are more uncertainties than ever before. However, let’s take a look at five players on the bubble who will likely be let go.

Yosh Nijman, OT

Yosh Nijman spent last year on the Packers’ practice squad which gives him a bit of an advantage heading into this season. Unfortunately, he’s missed all of the training camp so far, as he just returned on Friday where he dressed but didn’t practice. This puts him behind the eight-ball on his quest to make the final roster. Considering the Packers have quality depth ahead of him, his best bet moving forward is likely the practice squad once again.

Evan Bayliss, TE

Green Bay doesn’t have a clear-cut tight end at the top of their roster, but it appears its Jace Sternberger’s job to lose. After him, Josiah Deguara, Marcedes Lewis and Robert Tonyan each have a specific role on the roster. All things considered, the Pack likely don’t have room for five tight ends on their roster, meaning Eva Bayliss is the odd man out.

Dexter Williams, RB

The running back position is also loaded for the Packers. Aaron Jones is the obvious leader at the position with Jamaal Williams and 2020 second round pick A.J. Dillon vying for the backup jobs. After them, Tyler Ervin has a clear niche as a returner and weapon on reverses and jet sweeps. With the Packers likely using Deguara in a full-back role, they’ll be hard-pressed to keep Dexter Williams around for another year. After being selected in the sixth round last season, he was lucky to stick around for his entire rookie season. Don’t expect that luck to continue in 2020.

Randy Ramsey, OLB

The Packers are most likely to keep just four outside linebackers, and with Za’Darius Smith, Preston Smith and Rashan Gary occupying the top three spots there isn’t a lot of room for others. The defensive coaches have specifically mentioned Jonathan Garvin has someone who will have a role on their defense moving forward. That’s a tough pill to swallow for Randy Ramsey who was originally thought to have a leg up on the competition for the final outside linebacker spot.

Darrius Shepherd, WR

The Packers continue to shift toward a run-heavy scheme under head coach Matt LaFleur, meaning there are fewer opportunities and a lesser need for wide receivers. Davante Adams, Allen Lazard and Marquez Valdes-Scantling are locks for the position. After them, Jake Kumerow and Equanimous St. Brown are the favorites. Will the Packers keep more than five wide receivers? If they do, Malik Turner and Reggie Begelton have made it tough on Darrius Shepherd to stick around for another year.
