Although Green Bay doesn’t have a glaring need at right tackle, they could use some extra insurance and ensure Jared Veldheer is ready to go should they need him. As of now, Ricky Wagner, who they signed to replace Bryan Bulaga, is battling an injury and has missed some practice time. In his steed, right guard Billy Turner, who has previous experience at tackle, has moved to right tackle with Lane Taylor taking over his duties at right guard.

Veldheer was brought in much later than this last season and played very well in spot duty. He’s now somewhat familiar with the offense and a transition should be pretty smooth. After ESPN’s Rob Demovsky tweeted an update about the Packers’ right tackle situation earlier in the week, Veldheer responded with a phone and muscle emoji–I don’t know what other sign we need to know he’s ready to return to the Pack.
