Tim Boyle – Veteran Backup QB

Tim Boyle was an undrafted free agent in 2018 and made his way onto the Packers roster and has stuck around for his third year now. Unfortunately, while he has shown enough to keep a spot on the team, he hasn’t done enough to make himself marketable as a starting quarterback for the Packers or any other NFL team.

At 25 years old, he’s still young and in his prime, but his time might be running out. Not having a preseason could actually work to his benefit as far as the depth chart goes. Without those games, Love won’t have as much of a chance to learn and take game reps. This could make Boyle the number two QB on the depth chart.

This would secure his job for another year and give him a chance to play if Rodgers even has to come out for a few plays and show some teams that he can play. Boyle is completely blocked here and has basically no future in Green Bay, so the best thing he can do is try to impress someone else and latch on to another team.

The worst thing that can happen is him not making the roster. This is unlikely because having only two quarterbacks and one of them being a rookie with no NFL experience isn’t a great idea and probably not what the Packers want to do. Even so, the possibility is there for him to have to labor on the practice squad all year.
